I completed my Competent Communicator norm with Emperor Toastmasters last January 23. I still feel I need to do some work to be worthy of being called competent communicator. I intend to redo the Competent Communication Manual again with CaMaNaVa Toastmasters. Last January 26, I participated in the Toastmasters Area 3 & 4 Joint Speech Contest and joined the prepared International Speech competition. I did not fare too badly and it was a very good experience. DTM Norm Cook in his blog said participation in such a contest is equivalent to doing 5 basic speeches as preparation for a contest tremendously accelerates one's improvement as a speaker.

I still have two more goals with Toastmasters but they are moot and academic. In this 2007-08 term I have spent much more time doing leadership roles and add to that all those added experience from the roles I got from club hopping. So the Competent Leader norm is just a mere formality. My other goal is to build up membership in my two clubs. Again, the websites have the done the trick so I have no need to expend effort anymore except in updating these websites and replying quickly to inquiries.

Aside from a second serving of a Competent Communicator norm, I should also start working within the year on my Advanced Communicator Bronze and Competent Communicator Mandarin (CC/M) norms. They are targeted for completion in late 2008 or in 2009.
