Place for people who love startups to hang out and meet

The year 2008 has been an empowering year for me.

I improved greatly on my public speaking skills through Toastmasters and real-world presentations. I got a recall from Mitel, got reacquainted with the world of telecoms, and was introduced to the huge potential of SIP trunking. Thanks to some crazy customers who pushed me into delivering certain features. I immersed myself in italki, a language exchange social network I discovered back in 2007, and felt further empowered in being able to write and speak Chinese Mandarin and reintroduce Mandarin in our Toastmasters club. In addition, I gained a lot of new friends and found a new use for the Internet. VoIP brought down the costs of long-distance calls years ago. Now the convergence of VoIP and Web 2.0 is about to do the same to the cost of language learning.

The downside in 2008 is that I seem to have lost my passion for writing code. It might be after years of doing solitary work, I have become so addicted to having people around me that it is so hard to get back to solo activities. It would be such a waste to simply abandon this skill of mine and I got to reimagine and find ways to renew the spark.

Reimagine. Life goes on in 2009.
