You should definitely visit both Portland & Seattle, as they are similar but have differences. Portland feels smaller, friendlier, less congestion, less upscale. Seattle more grown-up martini feel, but more expensive & worse commutes. Job market, Seattle is probably a bit better, but we prefer the Portland lifestyle. Portland does not have the dearth of jobs that it was known for years ago.
