Thanks for inviting me as a friend. It must be because we share a name. I'm also called Mchoty. Are you selling coffee / tea? I made a business plan to open coffee shops in Barcelona once. It looked good on paper, but then it's easy to make a million on paper, right?
I am finding this site a little limited. I keep getting friend requests which is nice, but when I look at peoples' profiles, I see very little - a few photos of their friends, and some very basic information. What do we have in common? Why should I be their friend?
To help to avoid this, I thought I'd make it clearer who I am and what I do, so others don't have this same problem with me, and people can invite me to be their friend on the basis of some common grounds.
I run a company (with 2 partners) that organises accommodation in Barcelona, Spain. We manage 60+ holiday apartments and we make bookings for about 100 villas in Catalunya as well as other hotels and apartments in the region.
We started in 2002 as just 2 people with no start-up capital at all, and now we are about 20 people, with still very little capital, but healthy sales and some profits.
Barcelona is a great city and it gives us our living, but I hope to expand more internationally in the future and work with others doing the same across Europe and later globally.
I am English by origin, but obviously live in Spain, and speak Spanish, Germand and French in case anyone wants to parler algo anders.
I was wondering if you can help point me to some good web tech startup blogs in Spain. I'm doing research for my MBA project.
My purpose is to compare the differences in tech startup environments across Europe. I have conducted some quantitative research but was wondering if you can provide some subjective insight on the startup scene in your region.
I only have two questions and you can write as much or as little as you like. Your responses may be kept anonymous and confidential if you wish.
How entrepreneurial do you consider yourself? Your peers? Your area in general? How do you think it compares to US, rest of EU, UK?
Do you feel you have enough local resources to start your business? What are they? E.g. News sites, blogs, groups, VCs. How adequate are they? How easy is it for a startup?
