It's time to get back to some things I have neglected for quite a while--work with some killer apps to build something useful.
Just bought 3 DVDs of Wireshark University--Bootcamp 01-- Wireshark Functionality and Fundamentals, Bootcamp 02--TCP/IP Network Analysis, Bootcamp 03--Troubleshooting Network Performance.
Yesterday, I was at a competitor roadshow to learn about their product features and advantages. Their competing product does not have an advantage over ours. I should come up with a compelling sales pitch and move in for a 'kill.'
It is time to redirect energies from Toastmasters to its real-world applications and reap its benefits. After seeing my competitor's presentations, I now have a point of comparison for the presentations I have done before. I should just go out and present, present, and present. The objective is not to outcommunicate competition but to simply communicate as competition is doing such a bad job at it.
Except for the Toastmasters clubsites, I don't have anything else in my web portfolio. Never got to do what I had planned to (or wished) to do back in 2001. The reality back then is that it really would take much effort to build such websites from the ground up with my own code. Now with content management systems like Joomla and Drupal, I can focus on content and proceed more like a new media specialist rather than a web developer.
Of course, there's still enterprise software. I have a niche with open source TurboCash since it's written in Delphi. Now that I have obtained its User Manual I can proceed in learning and marketing it. Think also of its recall value since it is a global brand. Everyone else is distracted into .NET and Java as far as business apps are concerned and there are no new entrants into the Delphi space. I should again think of a marketing strategy to create a shift back to good old business applications.
