Place for people who love startups to hang out and meet

I have to revitalize my spirits in coding. So I have to blog about the Delphi scene again.

There is good news--Russian Schools Adopt Delphi, etc. and this. I would really feel very comfortable if someday China does the same. I remember during the early days of computing, tools were picked based on their real merits in the absence of corporate propaganda. I have never been to Russia but I would like to believe that big corporation marketing does not have a significant effect in Russia.

In the same report, CodeGear CEO Jim Douglas mentioned that ""CodeGear does not compete much with Microsoft's Visual Studio platform anymore. Microsoft's focus is on .Net and managed code, while CodeGear is centered on the native compiled space, although it does have .Net capabilities.".

Wine is now at release 0.9.54. Expect lot of hype once it reaches 1.0. Delphi applications work nicely under Wine in both Linux and MacOSX.

I should stay in touch with developments in three component vendors with unique offerings and two applications companies whose products serve as patterns for my products.

In the meantime, with a lull on news in new product development in the Delphi scene be glad that I shunned the Web 2.0 noise and it did not get me to Web 2.0 developer mode.
