 Aviva Family Finances report stated that 21 percent of their family consider annual family holiday as a priority for this year. 3 percent of people consider buying life insurance as a viable option.

 The study also revealed the fact that, people spend £35 on satellite television while they spend only 40 cent on insurance. The markets are decked with affordable life insurance policies, but still people consider as a giffen good.

 This is despite of the fact that insurance costs the family only £20.88 per month, which is just half of the TV packages they buy.

 Now, let’s compare other types of insurance available in the market. Aviva results states that, mobile phone insurance deems to have larger share of insurance purchasers as compared to critical life insurance. Mobile phone insurance has 14 percent share while critical life insurance has 13 percent share. Further comparison pointed out that 13 percent have taken extended warranty on electronic goods while only 10 percent of people have purchased income protection cover.

 According to certain research, people view life insurance as low priority because for them discussion about life insurance and death is impious. Plus they think whole idea of buying life insurance is crap and redundant.

 Louise Colley, head of protection sales and marketing remarked that, no one wants poor health or death, but it’s a harsh reality that everyone has to face.
